|Debut of the big board|
Vandal fans will be treated to another enhancement to the Kibbie Dome Gameday experience this year with Saturday's official unveiling of Idaho's new video board, which dominates the East end wall with its 30x50 (that's 1,500 square feet) of high definition screen.
With the generosity of Idaho Famous Potatoes, Washington Trust Bank, Glanbia, Commercial Tire and Blue Cross of Idaho, the board's capabilities are among the best in college football. It's 19-bit video processing is capable of producing 4.4 trillion colors, while its 16 mm SMD video screen provides the highest quality in resolution and clarity.
“This is another great step toward improving our fan experience with the highest quality images imaginable," Director of Athletics Rob Spear said, "and it allows us to create interactive experiences that extend beyond the actual game to heighten the atmosphere and make fans a part of the activity.”
On top of all that, it is UL Certified for energy efficiency.
"This is among the most technologically advanced screens in Division I football," said Chris Olinger of YESCO, developer of the video board. "It incorporates state-of-the-art technology that provides crisp detail, vibrant color and deep contrast, setting a new bar for college athletics."
