SEATTLE, Wash – Senior Hannah Kiser’s top 10 finish highlighted a strong day for the University of Idaho cross country teams on Saturday at the Sundodger Invitational, as the women finished third and the men took fourth.

Kiser, who was competing in her first meet of the season, ran a 20:50.0 on the 6K course and finished sixth-overall. On the men’s side junior Cody Helbling was the team’s top finisher for the second meet in a row, as he ran 24:14.01 on the 8K course and took 10th.

The women’s team put four runners in the top 25 scoring positions as sophomore Halie Raudenbush (9th,21:14.0), freshman Alex Siemens (25th, 22:00.0) and sophomore Abby Larson (26th, 22:00.0) rounded out the scoring for the Vandals, which scored 87 as a team.

On the men’s side, freshman Nicholas Boersma (25th, 24:34.51), sophomore Santos Vargas (42nd, 25:11.42), freshman Tim Delcourt (46th, 25:18.09) and freshman Mickey Day (47th, 25:18.59) rounded out the top five finishers as Idaho put up 95 points.

For many of the young runners it was their first time on the course, but Raudenbush and Larson were two returning Vandals with significant time improvements. Raudenbush knocked off 1:17 from her time last year, while Larson cut 36 seconds.

Next on the agenda for Idaho cross country is the Dellinger Invitational. Idaho will have two weeks off between meets before traveling to Eugene, Ore., on Oct. 5.
