MOSCOW, Idaho -- The Idaho volleyball team will make its first Western Athletic Conference road trip of the season this week when it visits Texas-Pan American and New Mexico State. The Vandals and Broncs will meet for the first time ever on Oct. 3 at 5 p.m. (PT) before Idaho visits the preseason WAC favorite Aggies on Oct. 5 at 11 a.m. (PT).

Idaho has won six of its last eight matches entering the trip, and owns a 9-6 overall record and 2-1 mark in WAC contests. Idaho’s .251 hitting percentage in 2013 not only leads the WAC but is 63rd in the  country and the program’s best since Idaho hit .252 back in 1996. Idaho middle blocker Alyssa Schultz is on pace for the school’s single-season and career hitting percentage records, as the WAC leader in that category owns a .404 hitting percentage for the season and a .346 percentage for her career.

UTPA enters the week with a 10-8 overall record and is 0-2 in the WAC, coming off a 3-0 loss to Utah Valley. The Broncs are coached by Brian Yale, who is 27-51 in his third season at the school.

Idaho and New Mexico State will face off on Saturday in a rematch of the 2012 WAC championship match. The Aggies were picked to win the league in the preseason coaches poll while Idaho was picked second. The Aggies are 7-8 in 2013 but 2-0 in the WAC. New Mexico State holds a 16-14 edge in the all-time series against Idaho, although the Vandals won 3-0 in Las Cruces to end the 2012 regular season.
