MOSCOW, Idaho—The Idaho Vandals packed up and hit road after enjoying the home field advantage for the past five games. Idaho will take on Utah Valley on Friday and CSU Bakersfield on Sunday to open the road portion of the Western Athletic Conference Schedule.

Utah Valley (5-5-0, 3-3-0 WAC) and CSU Bakersfield (1-8-1, 0-2-1 WAC) sit opposite each other in the current WAC standings, but head coach Pete Showler says that doesn’t make a difference when it comes to preparing for either team.

“We prepare for any team as we are ready for a battle,” Showler said. “We have to go into the tough games in the conference and take each game as it comes. There are 10 games left and a long way to go.”

The Wolverines topped Grand Canyon, 5-3, in last week’s play. Their five goals on Sunday marked their largest offensive output of the season. Sophomore Kali Stubbs has scored in three consecutive matches for Utah Valley and is tied for the team lead in goals this season with four. Although new to the WAC in 2013 UVU hasn’t lost a conference match in 10 games, dating back to Oct. 20, 2011.

Bakersfield played Grand Canyon to a 1-1 draw in Phoenix last week. Erica Shelton leads the ‘Runners with eight points on the season (3g, 2a). CSUB has only been able to find the back of the net once in WAC play. They were shutout in back-to-back matches against UVU to open conference play.

Friday’s kickoff at Utah Valley will be the latest starting time of the season. The Vandals will take to the field for a 6:00 p.m. PT start. Sunday at Bakersfield is set for a 1:00 p.m. PT start. Live stats for both matches will be available on
