The Idaho Swimming and Diving team dove into the pool on Sunday to help raise money for the Breaststroke 4 Hope Organization. The event was held at the UI Swim Center where the athletes and many others swam, gathered donations, and sold pink Speedo gear to raise the money.

“It’s a great cause and something that we are very proud to be a part of and feel very privileged to get behind,” Coach Sowa said.

The Breaststroke 4 Hope Organization works to help women who are at risk for breast cancer but cannot afford to get screened. The organization goes into these at risk places and offers them available screening for those who are at risk.

The Breaststroke 4 Hope Organization was founded by Taryn Gerson, the daughter of Jim Gerson, president of Speedo and an alum of the College of Business here at the University of Idaho. Taryn teamed up with the Idaho swim and Dive team as well as greek Fraternities and Sororities to raise over $1,000 during the event. The UI Bookstore also contributed by selling pink Speedo Merchandise.

“It was a blast and we’re hoping to make this a tradition here,” Sowa said.
