MOSCOW, Idaho – The Idaho men’s basketball team spent part of its Monday visiting local elementary schools to spread the word about its Readers as Leaders program, which rewards students who reach reading goals.

Elementary students who reach their reading goals earn an Idaho Vandals “Readers as Leaders” t-shirt, which also get them admission into home games. All students who earn t-shirts will be recognized during Idaho’s home game against Texas-Pan American on Feb. 8.

Students can get into both men’s and women’s home games with the shirts. The goals of the Readers as Leaders program are to enhance student interest, motivation and enjoyment in reading as well as improve individual reading skills and reading achievements. The kickoff event for the Readers as Leaders program takes place at halftime on December 28 at the Vandal men’s game against Montana, tipping off at 1 p.m.
