MOSCOW, Idaho – The Idaho men’s basketball team will hit the road for the first time during Western Athletic Conference play when it visits Texas-Pan American on Jan. 9 for a 5 p.m. (PT) tip off.

Idaho enters Thursday’s game at 6-10 overall and 0-2 in WAC play after dropping its last four contests, while the Broncs are 4-12 on the season, 0-1 in the WAC and have lost eight consecutive games. UTPA last won on Nov. 27 at Lamar. The Broncs are 1-4 at home this season while Idaho is 2-4 on the road. Live stats and a free live web stream of the game will be available at

Idaho has been the victim of some heart-breaking losses in recent memory. The Vandals lost by one point each to border rivals Washington State and Montana in the Cowan Spectrum, and fell by two, 57-55 to Chicago State on go-ahead basket with three seconds left in their last outing.

The Broncs average 65.1 points per game and allow 70.6 per game. UTPA started the season 4-4 and won back-to-back games on two occasions before dropping its last eight games. The Broncs force their opponents into an average of 14.4 turnovers per game, the third most in the WAC, while grabbing 5.8 steals. Javorn Farrell leads the team and ranks fourth in the WAC in scoring with 16.1 points per game. Shaquille Boga adds 12.4 points per game and Shaquille Hines chips in the 11.1 points and a team-best 5.6 rebounds.

Thursday’s game will be the first ever meeting between the two programs. Texas-Pan American will make a return trip to Moscow on Feb. 8. Idaho will finish the weekend with a game at New Mexico State on Jan. 11, which will be televised regionally on ROOT SPORTS. After the weekend road trip the Vandals will be back at home for five of their next six games, beginning Jan. 16 against Utah Valley in the Cowan Spectrum.
