|Big Improvements All Around|
MOSCOW, Idaho – The University of Idaho track and field showed significant improvement over last weekend’s meet as they competed at home at the Idaho Collegiate.
Junior Taylor Hewett added excitement to the day after returning from ACL surgery and hitting a career-best mark of 2:16.51 in the 800m. Hewett beat her previous time in the event by almost five seconds.
“This kind of exemplifies what she has been doing all fall and over Christmas break,” Director of track & field/cross country Wayne Phipps said. “She keeps surprising everybody, including herself and she is making improvements every week.”
The men’s 400m runners were also a notable event of the day. Junior Jesse Villines hit a career-best of 48.79 in the event while teammates Ben Ayesu-Attah (47.59) and Andrew Bloom (48.13) both added strong marks.
The Vandals are back in action tomorrow at the Idaho Open. Events kick off at 8:30 a.m. (PT) with track events beginning at 9 a.m.
