DENVER—Idaho sprinter Jesse Villines was named the Western Athletic Conference Men’s Track Athlete of the Week for Jan. 20-26, the conference announced on Tuesday.

"Jesse had an amazing weekend," Director of Track and Field Wayne Phipps said. "He set personal records in four events and worked very hard over the breat. It is awesome to see him be rewarded for all of his hard work."

Villines, a junior from Soda Springs, Idaho (Soda Springs HS), ran in seven races for the Vandals over the two day, home meet series and hit career-best marks in each event. Villines hit two career-best marks on the first day in both the 60m Hurdles (8.56) and the 400m (48.79) during the Idaho Collegiate. The next day, at the Idaho Open, he hit two other career-best marks in both the 60m (7.01) and the 200m (21.78). His 200m time ranks third in the WAC this season.

The Vandals will be back on the track Friday, Jan. 31 at the WSU Cougar Indoor. The meet will run through Saturday in Pullman.
