MOSCOW, Idaho – On the heels of its best win of the season, the Idaho men’s basketball team will look to continue its momentum when it hosts Texas-Pan American on Saturday at 7 p.m. in the Cowan Spectrum.

Idaho (9-14, 3-6 Western Athletic Conference) beat New Mexico State 73-67 on Thursday for its first top-75 RPI win of the season, and will look for its second win of the year over UTPA (6-18, 2-7 WAC), which Idaho beat 86-85 in double-overtime in Edinburg, Texas, on Jan. 9. That game was the only previous meeting between the two programs.

Texas-Pan American’s lineup features three players who average double-figures, led by Javorn Farrell’s 15.6 points per game to go along with his 3.3 assists. Shaquille Boga adds 14.0 points per game and Shaquille Hines averages 12.5. The Broncs actually have a better record on the road this season than they do at home. UTPA is just 1-8 (.111) at home but 4-9 (.308) on the road.

Idaho senior Stephen Madison entered the top five in Idaho career scoring on Thursday with 24 points, giving him 1,358 for his career. The performance was Madison’s fourth 20-plus point outburst in his last five games, and his ninth of the season. Vandal junior Connor Hill is approaching the 1,000-point milestone, with 852 career points entering Saturday’s contest. Averaging 14 points per game so far this season, Hill has a chance at reaching the milestone by the end of this season.

Saturday is Readers as Leaders Awards Night. Readers as Leaders kids get in for free with their t-shirts and parents get admission for five dollars. It's also Hall Wars, and the residence hall with the best attendance will win a Domino's pizza party. Three fans at the game will be selected for a half-court shot worth 900 dollars cash.

Saturday’s game is the last of three straight home games for the Vandals, and also the last game in the Cowan Spectrum for the team this season. Idaho will visit Bakersfield (Feb. 13) and Utah Valley (Feb. 15) next week before hosting CSU Northridge in a non-conference matchup on Feb. 18, and Grand Canyon on Senior Night on Feb. 22, both those games will be in Memorial Gym.
