HONOLULU – For the first time since Jan. 17, the No. 51 Idaho women’s tennis team suffered a loss, falling 4-3 at Hawai`i on Saturday.

Due to the threat of bad weather, the match began with singles play, but after Idaho and Hawai`i split the six singles matches, the doubles point was necessary to decide the match. There, Hawai`i won at the Nos. 2 and 3 spots to clinch the win.

“Hawai`i played very tough at No. 2 and 3 doubles,” Idaho coach Jeff Beaman said. “Good teams learn from their losses and we will use this to improve.”

The loss is just Idaho’s second this season, dropping the Vandals to 11-2 on the year.
