Looking Forward

Idaho will compete with a split squad this weekend with a portion of the team at the Sun Angel Classic hosted by Arizona State and a portion at the War VII hosted by Spokane Community College. The Sun Angel Classic kicks off Friday at noon (PT) with the women’s premier section of the hammer throw, with running events starting at 8:25 p.m.  The War VII begins Friday at 4 p.m. with the men’s portion of the hammer throw, with running events beginning at 7 p.m.

Historically Speaking
Last year at the Sun Angel Classic, junior Matt Sullivan re-wrote the Idaho school record book, leaping to a height of 17-5 (5.31m) in the pole vault. With his mark, Sullivan became the fourth Vandal in Idaho history to reach the 17ft mark. Over the meet, the Vandals earned 14 career-best marks and six season-best marks. At the War VI the Vandals posted eight individual wins.  Senior Cait Rowland won the 400m hurdles while junior Ben Ayesu-Attah won the 400m.

A Quick Recap
The Vandals were at full force last weekend at the Sam Adams Classic. Over the day Idaho posted 23 individual wins. Freshman Andrea Pikes led the way for the women with a double in the 100m and 200m, while freshman teammate Meghan Palesch also earned a double over the meet winning the 100m hurdles and the 400m hurdles. For the men, Arphaxad Carroll earned a double victory in the long jump and the triple jump.
