SPOKANE, Wash – The University of Idaho track and field team earned two individual wins, and posted multiple career-best marks Saturday at the War VII hosted by Spokane Community College.

 Senior Cait Rowland led the women with a first-place wind-aided time of 15.26 in the 100m hurdles, while freshman Taylor Sheppard followed in third with a time of 16.86. Freshman Kolcie Bates added the second victory for the day in the discus throw with a heave of 141-5 (43.10m).

Sophomore Taylor Hewett finished second in the 800m with a career-best time of 2:16.7, while freshman Mareyna Karlin placed third in the pole vault with a mark of 10-11.75 (3.35m).

For the men, sophomore Nathan Stark finished second in the 3k steeple chase with a time of 9:38.70, followed closely by sophomore teammate Santos Vargas in third (9:48.32). Freshman Juan Medina finished third in the shot put with a mark of 49-9 (15.16m) and sophomore Ian Middleton placed eighth in the javelin throw with a career-best mark of 180-8 (55.07m).

The Vandals have a full slate of action next week beginning Thursday with the CSULA Twilight Open at Los Angeles, Calif., the Whitworth Twilight Invite at Spokane, Wash., and the Mt. Sac Relays at Walnut, Calif.
