MOSCOW, Idaho—Emmie Marx, who last played collegiately at Illinois State, has signed a scholarship agreement to play with the Vandal women’s tennis team this fall, head coach Mariana Cobra announced on Tuesday.

“Emmie is a very talented, hard-working player,” Cobra said. “She will make a huge impact on our program on and off the court. She has an all court game which will impact the top of our singles and doubles line up. I am thrilled to have her join us."

Marx, a native of Mossel Bay, South Africa, attended Illinois State from 2011-13. Her freshman season was spent playing in the No. 2 position where she finished with a 14-9 overall record. In doubles play she recorded a 4-4 record in the first position. Marx was named to the Missouri Valley Conference 2012 All-Select Team.

As a sophomore, Marx recorded an 11-7 record in singles play, including a 4-2 record at the No. 1 position. She and her doubles partner finished 6-2 overall.

Marx, who will study cellular biology, becomes the third senior on the 2014-15 roster, joining veterans Sophie Vickers and Beatriz Flores.
