|Vandals Upset No. 59 NMSU|
LAS CRUCES, N.M. - It was the biggest victory in years for University of Idaho men's tennis according to Director of Tennis Jeff Beaman.
Idaho upended No. 59 New Mexico State 4-3 to record the team's second victory over ranked opposition this season.
"Today's match against NMSU is a huge step for our team," Beaman said. "NMSU is playing very well right now, nationally ranked and to beat them on their home courts is significant."
Idaho started the match off by nabbing the doubles point. Singles victories from Lachlan Reed, Stanislav Glukhov and Alan Shin capped off a fan performance from the Vandals.
"This wins shows we have the level to be a top team, and I am looking for the guys to make a statement and finish this weekend strong," Beaman said. "The guys should be proud of what they accomplished today."
Idaho beat Western New Mexico 7-0 on Thursday to begin its four game, four day New Mexico trip. The Vandals are in action on Saturday against UT Arlington and against Northern Arizona on Sunday.
