MOSCOW, Idaho - University of Idaho men's basketball signee Djim Bandoumel was one of 14 players named to the 2010 Canadian Development Men's National Team (DMNT) on Saturday.

As one of 19 players invited to a tryout last week, Bandoumel impressed enough to earn a spot on the national roster along with other collegiate and professional players.

Bandoumel, a 6-8, 215-pound forward who spent last season at Monroe (NY) College, will play in a series of exhibition games against other international teams with the DMNT from July 17 - August 2. The team beat Ivory Coast on Sunday by a score of 70-59 and plays Belgium on Monday.

"Djim brings athleticism, length and experience to our program," Idaho head coach Don Verlin said. "We are extremely excited to have him a part of the Idaho family and proud of his opportunity to compete for his home country."

The junior forward will eligible to play for Idaho in the 2010-11 season and will give Idaho a boost down low, especially on defense. He averaged 9.8 points, 6.1 rebounds and 1.9 blocks per game and helped lead the Mustangs to a 29-8 overall record, Region 15 and District III titles, and a seventh-place finish at the NJCAA National Tournament in March.

At the NJCAA Tournament, in which Monroe lost its opening round game, then rattled off three straight wins to take seventh, Bandoumel averaged 10.8 points, 6.5 rebounds, 1.8 blocks and shot .576 from the floor. He was also a second-team all-Region 15 pick and a Region 15 All-Tournament Team selection.

As a freshman at Monroe, Bandoumel helped lead the Mustangs to a 30-3 overall record, Region 15 title and a No. 9 NJCAA ranking. He played in 31 games and started 14, with 4.9 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.2 blocked shots per game.
