"I am excited to be involved with a committee dealing with all the issues surrounding college basketball," Spear said.

The committee is charged with "ensuring appropriate oversight of the sport of men's basketball is maintained, with emphasis on recruiting activities, enhancing the development and public perception of the sport and making recommendations on policy issues unrelated to legislative and playing rule changes."

Since he was hired in 2004 as Idaho's director of athletics, Spear has served on several NCAA committees and councils.
