Fifth-year head coach Don Verlin leads the Vandal men's basketball team onto the court this Friday for the team's first practice of the season.

Coming off a 19-14 season and a second-round appearance at the Postseason Tournament - Idaho's third postseason berth in four years under Verlin - the Vandal men will look to take the next step forward in 2012-13.

The first chance for the Idaho public to view the Vandal men will be on Friday, Oct. 19, when the team hosts its annual Black vs. Gold Scrimmage in Memorial Gym at 7 p.m. The free event will feature team introductions and a 20-minute scrimmage, and players will be available afterward to sign autographs.

Vandals in North Idaho and the Spokane area need not fret. The Idaho men's team will visit on Tuesday, Oct. 23, for a 20-minute intra-squad scrimmage on Tuesday, Oct. 23, at North Idaho College's Christianson Gym.

That evening starts with the Vandal Pre-Game, a no-host social at 5 p.m. at the Fort Ground Grill. Team introductions and warm-up will start at 6:15 and the scrimmage will start at 6:30 p.m. There will be an autograph signing at the end of the night.

The Vandal men play two exhibition games this year, starting on Saturday, Sept. 27, against Seattle Pacific at 7 p.m. at Memorial Gym. There's also a men-women doubleheader on Friday, Nov. 2, as the women's team hosts Western Oregon at 6 p.m. and the Vandal men play Central Washington at 8:05 p.m.

Idaho's first regular-season game is at home against Wright State on Friday, Nov. 9, at 7:05 p.m. in Memorial Gym. Vandal men's and women's basketball season tickets are on sale now at, over the phone at (208) 885-6466 and in person at the UI Ticket Office.
