The Idaho women's basketball team continues its three-game Western Athletic Conference home stand on Thursday as it welcomes San Jose State to the Cowan Spectrum with a 6 p.m. tipoff.
The Vandals (3-9, 0-1 WAC) are looking to end their current three-game skid. San Jose State comes into the game with a 4-9 record and is 1-1 in WAC play. The Vandals have won four straight in the series against SJSU, including a win in the WAC quarterfinals last season. Overall, Idaho is 14-10 all-time against the Spartans.
San Jose State is led by Ta'Rea Cunnigan, who averages 19.6 points and 4.8 rebounds per game. Emily Schill adds 10.4 points and 6.7 rebounds per game and Riana Byrd, the WAC's second-leading rebounder, averages 10.1 points and 9.3 rebounds. As a team, the Spartans rank third in the WAC in steals and force their opponents into 23.7 turnovers per game.
Idaho sophomore Stacey Barr is coming off one of her best performances of the year. In Idaho's WAC-opening loss to Seattle U Barr came off the bench to score 18 points and add seven rebounds. She made her first four shots of the game, all from 3-point range, and also added two assists and a steal. With 9.1 points per game, Barr is third on the team this season, behind junior Alyssa Charlston's 13.8 points and freshman Christina Salvatore's 10.9.
Idaho will wrap up its home stand against Utah State on Dec. 5 at 2 p.m.
