|Idaho women look to bounce back|
The Idaho women's basketball team will look to rebound from an ugly loss at Utah State Thursday when it wraps up its four-game road trip at San Jose State at 2 p.m. (PT) on Saturday.
The Vandals had their three-game win streak snapped against the Aggies, and will have to bounce back on Saturday to remain in third place in the Western Athletic Conference standings, as SJSU moved into a tie for third with Idaho after its win Thursday against Seattle U coupled with Idaho's loss. Both teams enter the game with identical 9-12 overall marks and 6-4 WAC records.
San Jose State is led by Ta'Rea Cunnigan's 20.9 points per game, the second-highest average in the WAC. A pair of freshmen have also stepped up big for the Spartans, as Riana Byrd is second on the team with 10.8 points per game and leads the WAC with 10.1 boards. Emily Schill, who went off for 36 points in a game earlier this season, averages 10.7 points and 7.2 rebounds for SJSU.
The last time the Vandals and Spartans got together Idaho got its first WAC win of the season with an 82-65 win a month ago. The Vandals shot 40.0 percent (30-of-75) from the field and 50.0 percent (11-of-22) from 3-point range, and five Vandals scored in double figures, led by a career-high 18 points off the bench for junior Addie Schivo. Idaho had its best rebounding night in five years with a 60-39 advantage on the glass, which aided a 22-12 edge in second-chance points.
Fans on the Palouse can catch the action on KMAX 840 AM beginning with the pregame show at 1:45. Free live stats will be available at www.GoVandals.com and a video stream will be provided on VandalXtra.
The Vandals will return home next week to host New Mexico State on Feb. 7 and Denver on Feb. 9.
