PULLMAN, Wash. - A come-from-behind 6-4 second-set victory by Beatriz Flores gave the Idaho women's tennis team a 4-3 win over Nevada Friday evening in Pullman, Wash.

"That was just an incredible match overall," Idaho coach Myriam Sopel said. "Everybody contributed really well, I am really proud of everybody. We had great fight, great intensity and great support. We really came together as a team, and we can compete with anybody."

With the match tied 3-3 overall, Flores won her first set 6-2 at No. 6 singles, but trailed 4-1 in the second set, and it appeared the match might come down to a third set in the final singles match. But Flores bounced back to win five straights games and take the set 6-4 to give Idaho the 4-3 victory, its second in its last three matches.

Idaho improves to 2-5 on the season with the win, while Nevada falls to 0-2 in dual match play.

"Honestly I was so nervous," Flores said of playing the deciding match. "I started to just think about every point and I looked to my team and their support and I was like 'just do it, just go for it,' and I knew I could do it and I just did."

Idaho won the doubles point after Belen Barcenilla and Victoria Lozano got an 8-5 win at No. 2 doubles, and Flores and Alejandra Lozano won 8-6 at No. 3. The match got to 3-3 after Nevada got wins at the top two singles spots over Victoria Lozano and Almudena Sanz, and at No. 5 singles over Alejandra Lozano, while Constance Alexander and Barcenilla picked up wins at No. 4 and 5 singles for Idaho.

"They fought really hard whether they won or lost, they fought from the first to the last point, and they cheered for each other for mental support," Sopel said. "Beaty won the clinching match, and she felt the support on every single point. I always talk about the team spirit and the team chemistry and that's what we demonstrated today in great fashion."

Idaho returns to action on Feb. 23 when it takes on Gonzaga and LCSC in Lewiston, Idaho. The Vandals will play their first home match of the season on March 6 when they host Eastern Washington.
