The Idaho women's basketball team will look to extend its home winning-streak to four games when it welcomes UTSA to the Cowan Spectrum on Feb. 28 for a 6 p.m. tip off.
The Vandals enter the game with a 12-14 overall record and a 9-6 mark in Western Athletic Conference play, just a half-game ahead of the Roadrunners, who are 14-11 overall and 8-6 in the WAC. Idaho beat UTSA 64-45 in San Antonio last month.
Idaho will look to bounce back from back-to-back losses against UT Arlington and Louisiana Tech in its last two games. Both losses came by just two points, as Idaho missed a buzzer-beating 3-pointer against UTA, while LA Tech made a buzzer-beating 3 to down the Vandals two days later. The Vandals are also hoping to fend off the surging Roadrunners, who have pulled within a half game of Idaho in the WAC standings with two straight wins.
Karma King leads UTSA with 9.0 points per game. The Roadrunners play a low-scoring brand of basketball, as they average just 60.6 points per game and allow 55.7. Comparatively, Idaho and its opponents both average better than 65.0 points per game. UTSA has played 15 different players this season, and 14 of them have played in 17 or more games. Fourteen different players entered the game for UTSA when it faced Idaho on Jan. 26.
Idaho cruised to a 64-45 victory over UTSA in San Antonio on Jan. 26. The Vandals shot 50.0 percent from long range in that game, hitting 10-of-20 3-pointers. Idaho also dominated on the glass, owning a 49-27 rebounding advantage. Four Idaho players scored in double figures to lead a balanced offensive attack, led by 13 points each from Christina Salvatore, Connie Ballestero and Jessica Graham. Alyssa Charlston added 11 points in the game for Idaho.
