HONOLULU, Hawai`i - Leilanie Kim and Rachel Choi posted top-25 finishes as the University of Idaho women's golf team climbed into a tie for eighth at the annual Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational.

"We were playing more consistently but we're still giving away a lot of shots inside of 100 yards," coach Lisa Johnson said. "We struggled to get any momentum going."

The Vandals did post their two best rounds of the spring - 308 to open the tournament and 307 in their closing round, as part of a 54-hole total 926 to tie with host Hawai`i. Arizona won the tournament with an 875 with Ohio State second at 900.

Kim tied for 12th with rounds of 75-73-78 for a 226. Choi tied for 24th after rounds of 77-79-75 for a 231. Just one stroke back but in a tie for 28th was Rachel Strankman with a 232 off rounds of 78-76-78. Kaitlyn Oster tied for 50th (78-83-78 -- 239) and Cassie McKinley tied for 69th (84-85-76 -- 245) to round out the Vandal scoring.

"Overall, I feel the team fought hard for every shot," Johnson said. "We're going to build off all the things we did well this week."
