LAS VEGAS, Nev. - The Idaho women's basketball team will battle Seattle U with a trip to the Big Dance on the line Saturday at noon (PT) in the Western Athletic Conference championship game, which will be broadcast live on ESPNU.
The third-seeded Vandals (16-15) and top-seeded Redhawks (20-9) will each be making their first appearance in the WAC finals. Idaho used a pair of two-point victories - a 57-55 quarterfinal win over San Jose State and an 84-82 semifinal win over Utah State - to get to the finals, while Seattle U won its first two tournament games by an average of 21.5 points per game to cruise to the championship game. The Redhawks got the best of the Vandals in both regular-season meetings, winning 76-71 in Moscow on Dec. 29 and 55-53 in Seattle just one week ago. That game featured a last-second jumper by SU's Ashley Ward to lift the Redhawks to victory. In addition to the national TV broadcast, fans on the Palouse can catch the action in KMAX 840 AM, and world-wide with live stats on www.WACsports.com and a live video stream at www.WatchESPN.com (cable subscription required). |
