|Vandals renew rivalry with BSU|
MOSCOW -- The Idaho volleyball team will head to Boise, Idaho for the Bronco Classic this week where the Vandals will face three past and future conference opponents; Boise State, Sacramento State and North Texas.
Idaho is 3-4 entering the weekend after going 0-3 at the NAU Fiesta Bowl Tournament last week. Idaho coach Debbie Buchanan is 199-192 in her career, all at Idaho, and is one win shy of her milestone 200th career win.
Idaho gets the tournament started on Sept. 12 at 6 p.m. (PT) against in-state and former Big Sky, Big West and Western Athletic Conference rival Boise State. The Vandals have had the Bronco’s number over the years, owning a 51-30 (.630) all-time record against BSU. Current Idaho coach Debbie Buchanan is 16-4 (.800) all-time against BSU and the Vandals won their last meeting with the Broncos, a 3-2 win in the 2010 WAC quarterfinals. Boise State is 3-3 in 2013, coming off a 2-1 showing at the Wildcat Challenge, hosted by Northwestern.
The Vandals will take on Sacramento State on Sept. 13 at 12:30 p.m. (PT). The Vandals and Hornets have only met once before, with Sacramento State winning 3-0 back in 1986, but the two will be Big Sky opponents in the future when Idaho joins the league beginning in 2014. The Hornets are 5-2 in 2013.
Idaho will wrap up the tournament against North Texas on Sept. 14 at 9 a.m. (PT). The Vandals and Mean Green were Big West opponents from 1996-1999 and Idaho owns a 9-0 lead in the all-time series. North Texas enters the weekend with a 5-3 record and has won five out of its last six matches.
