|Day Two Houston Invitational|
The Idaho Swim and Dive team had another great day in the second day of competition at the Houston Invitational yesterday. The Vandals finished the day in third place.
“We are learning a great deal this weekend and the girls are starting to figure things out and make nice adjustments,” Coach Mark Sowa said.
Juniors Laura Griffing and Erica Anderson both swam in the 100 breast and both broke the school record. Griffing broke the record in the prelims with a time of 1:03.14. Then Anderson broke that record in the finals of the event with a time of 1:02.65. Anderson took 2nd and Griffing took 5th in the finals.
Junior Rachel Millet won the 200 free with a time of 1:48.11, only three tenths of a second off her school record. Freshman Madison Brewer took 6th in the 100 back with a time of 56.28, a national qualifying time.
“We were really great tonight,” Sowa said. “Laura and Erica were awesome and it is so cool to have two girls break the same school record in the same day. Overall we are right where we want to be at this point of the season.”
