|Vandals extend winning streak|
PULLMAN, Wash. – The Idaho women’s tennis team extended its winning streak to six matches and improved to 6-1 on the season with a 5-2 win over Utah State on Friday.
After beating No. 66 Fresno State one day earlier, the Vandals handed Utah State (5-1) its first loss of the season.
“The girls competed really well today and were tested by a very tough Utah State team,” Idaho associate head coach Art Hoomiratana said. “We knew there would be a little drop off in energy after the win yesterday, but they battled through it and did a great job today.”
Utah State won at Nos. 1 and 6 singles but Idaho won every match in between and took the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3.
“Overall it was a great effort and a step in the right direction,” Hoomiratana said. “We are very proud of their effort over the last two days.”
Idaho returns to action Feb. 22 against Western Athletic Conference foe Kansas City in Lewiston, Idaho.
