T&F Wraps Up Husky Classic

SEATTLE, Wash – University of Idaho track and field wrapped up the Husky Classic with 18 career bests Saturday at the meet hosted by the University of Washington.

Junior Jesse Villines, keeping it consistent, hit another career-best mark in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.39 to finish seventh overall in the event. In the 400m invitational section, junior Ben Ayesu-Attah placed second overall with a time of 47.89 followed closely by senior teammate Andrew Bloom in third with a season-best time of 48.03.

Also for the men, freshman Arphaxad Carroll placed 11th overall in the 60m with a career-best time of 6.99 and also finished fourth overall in the long jump with a leap of 23-5.25. Sophomore Nathan Stark ran a career-best time of 4:18.19 in the early section of the mile to place fifth overall.

For the women, senior Karlene Hurrel placed fourth overall in the 60m with a time of 7.66 while freshman Meghan Palesch placed 11th in the 400m with a time of 57.33 and freshman Walton Wednesday hit a career-best mark in the event with a time of 58.76. In the early section of the mile run, freshman Alex Siemens took the second place spot with a time of 5:02.18 followed by freshman Emma Balazs in fourth (5:06.45), both hit career-best marks in the event.

On Friday, senior Kyle Rothwell heaved a season-best mark in the weight throw with a toss of 60-6.5 to finish 10th in the event while freshman Katie Wardsworth hit a career-best mark in the women’s weight throw with a heave of 49-0.75.
