|Vandals fall at New Mexico|
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The Idaho men’s tennis team suffered a 5-2 loss at New Mexico in its third match in four days in the desert.
The Vandals fall to 3-6 on the season after falling at Arizona and New Mexico State over the weekend.
“Today was a better display of competing against a strong New Mexico team than we put out earlier on this trip,” Idaho coach Jeff Beaman said. “We still need to make progress in our execution and focus on fundamentals and being competitive at all times from all positions in the lineup.”
Artemiy Nikitin and Cristobal Ramos Salazar earned Idaho’s two points in the match with singles wins at the Nos. 3 and 4 positions. Both players won in three sets.
The Vandals face Gonzaga on Feb. 20 and Kansas City on Feb. 22. Both matches will be played in Spokane, Wash.
“We’ll take the positives from this match and work towards our two upcoming matches against Gonzaga and UMKC,” Beaman said.
