Panchol Earns WAC Honor

DENVER—Idaho’s Emmanuel Panchol has been named the Western Athletic Conference Men’s Field Athlete of the Week, for Feb. 10-16, the conference announced on Wednesday.

Panchol, a junior from Khartoum, Sudan (Ashford University), placed first in the triple jump with a career-best mark of 48-5.25 (14.76m) and finished second in the high jump with a career-best leap of 6-8.75 (2.05m) at the Husky Classic on Friday.  His triple jump mark leads the WAC this season and his high jump is third in the conference.  On Saturday, at the UW Open, he again placed second in the high jump with a leap of 6-4.74 (1.95m).

Idaho will be back in action at the WSU Invite starting Friday, Feb. 21. The Vandals will continue in Pullman on Saturday as they continue to tune up for the WAC Indoor Championships. Idaho will host WAC Championships inside the Kibbie Dome with the first events set to begin on Wednesday, Feb. 26 and will run through Feb. 28.
