The Idaho Swim and Dive team took to the pool today for the first day of the Western Athletic Conference Championship meet. The Vandals are tied with Northern Arizona for first in the team scores with 106 points.

Senior diver Mairin Jameson made a big statement early for the Vandals when she won the 1-meter dive competition with a score of 312.25. Senior diver Paige Hunt finished second in the event with a score of 304.95 which gave the Vandals a big points boost.

Our divers were phenomenal,” Coach Mark Sowa said. “Mairin dove the board of her life and Paige pushed her to the end. Watching those two has been a pleasure.”

The great day did not end there for the Vandals. The 200 medley relay team finished second in the finals with a time of 1:40.93, a new school record and the best finish in the WAC tournament in school history.

“Erica and Taylor were awesome in particular and I am confident our 400 medley will be great on Friday,” Sowa said.

The Vandals will hit the pool again tomorrow for day two of competition in the WAC Championships.
