LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The Idaho men’s tennis team fell 4-0 to No. 1 USC in the first round of the NCAA tournament on Saturday.

USC took the doubles point with an 8-0 win at No. 2 and an 8-4 win at No. 3. The No. 1 doubles match was tied 6-6 when the Trojans clinched the point.

USC took straight set singles victories at Nos. 5, 4 and 3 to advance to the round of 32 on Sunday.

"I was proud of how the guys competed against a very strong opponent," Idaho coach Jeff Beaman said. "We pushed them at spots and had some singles matches that could have gone either way if the match continued."

The Western Athletic Conference champion Vandals end their season with an 11-14 overall record.
