MOSCOW, Idaho – Jackson Varney, who spent the last two seasons playing at the No. 1 singles and doubles positions at Prairie View A&M, has signed a scholarship agreement to join the Idaho men’s tennis team this fall, Idaho coach Jeff Beaman announced.

Varney will be a junior in the 2014-15 season, and have two years of eligibility remaining. At Prairie View A&M Varney was a two-time SWAC Player of the Year and the SWAC Freshman of the Year in 2013. He combined to go 14-18 in dual-match singles play, playing his final 31 singles matches at the No. 1 position.

“Jackson adds experience and talent to our roster for next season,” Beaman said. “He has had strong results in junior and men’s events and strong US college results.”

Varney is originally from Williamstown, Australia, and will study architecture at Idaho.
