COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - University of Idaho junior diver Paige Hunt finished 17 in the one-meter competition at the Zone E Championships at the Air Force Academy.

Hunt had a 257.60 in her first six dives to qualify for the championship round. She added another 239.95 over her next six dives to finish at 497.55 for the event.

"Today went really well," Idaho diving coach Chelsea Oates said., "Consistency is what a meet like this takes and Paige did an amazing job of exactly that. She took it one step at a time and hit every dive.

"There are some of the best divers in the country here and she hung with them the entire meet. We're excited to see what tomorrow and Saturday have in store."

The Zone E meet continues over the next two days with the 3-meter competition Friday and the platform event Saturday - both typically stronger events for Hunt (Mesa, Ariz.).

Swimming and diving head coach Mark Sowa had high praise for the dive team's progress this season.

"Our diving program has made huge strides this season," he said. "It has been a delight for me to watch Paige improve and watch her confidence grow. Coach Oates has done a tremendous job."
