|Hunt finishes 13th in 3-meter|
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Paige Hunt had the University of Idaho's third- and fifth-best 3-meter diving performances to finish 13th at the Zone Championships at the Air Force Academy.
Hunt tallied a 276 during her first six dives to qualify for the final round, where she added a 287.75 for a total 563.75 and 13th in the field of 41. Her 287.75 is third best all-time at Idaho, while her 276 is fifth-best all-time.
"I'm so proud of her," diving coach Chelsea Oates said. "Three-meter can be an intimidating event at this meet and once again she stuck with the best of the best and dove like we know she is capable of diving.
"She put everything together, twice in a row, and came out 13th. She moved up 30 places from last year and we're so excited for her!"
She competes in platform diving Saturday for her final event of the competition. She finished 17th in the one-meter during Thursday's opening day of competition.
"Paige was a tremendous Vandal today," head swimming and diving coach Mark Sowa said. "It was truly awesome to see her final's performance surpass a really good prelims.
"She's knocking on the door of the top 10. This young lady is a competitor."
