The University of Idaho women's tennis team, and three of its individuals, earned academic recognition from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association on Friday, as the Vandals earned the ITA All-Academic Team award, and Almudena Sanz, Molly Knox and Vicky Lozano earned ITA Scholar-Athlete recognition.

"It's great to see the girls getting rewarded for their hard work off the court," Idaho coach Dan Pollock said. "They had a stellar year athletically, but have also excelled off the court and as a team they are excellent examples of successful all-around student-athletes. The University of Idaho is a great academic institution and we hope to continue to attract players that will represent the university well both on and off the court."

The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale). ITA Scholar-Athletes must have a GPA of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale), be a varsity letter winner, and have been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters.

In addition to the ITA academic honors, six out of the seven players on Idaho's spring 2012 roster earned Academic All-WAC honors. Knox, Lozano and Annamaria Gould were on the spring Academic All-WAC team, while Beatriz Flores, Sophie Vickers and Sanz qualified for the freshman and transfers team.
