COLORADO SPRING, Colo. – Rachel Millet, Jamie Sterbis and
Paige Hunt all won twice but the University of Idaho couldn’t keep pace with
the Air Force Academy and fell 169-131 in a non-conference swimming and diving
meet Friday.
“We came out a bit flat in the first half of the meet and
paid the price for that,” coach Mark Sowa said. “We will learn from this
experience.”
Millet’s winning swims were in the 200 free (1:54.44) and
the 200 IM (2:08.28), while Sterbis won the 100 fly (57.92) and the 200 fly
(2:08.06). Hunt swept the diving events with 250.43 points to win the one-meter
event and 260.25 to capture the three-meter competition.
“We had some real bright spots,” Sowa said. “Our divers were
great; Jamie’s fly was really impressive; Kelsie’s win in the 100 breast was a
tremendous finish, and Rachel’s 200 medley also was a good swim.”
