The University of Idaho swimming and diving team finished the 2012-13 season ranked 25th in the annual CollegeSwimming.com Mid-Major Division I poll.
The poll, which bases its rankings on an assigned value to a mythical dual meet lineup, is headed by Harvard with Princeton second and Miami (Ohio) third.
"It is great for this program to be recognized as one of the best mid-major teams in the country,” coach Mark Sowa said. “We have spent the last two years building something pretty special and it is nice for that progress to be seen on a national level."
Last month, the Vandals had their best finish in the Western Athletic Conference Meet with a fourth-place effort. Throughout this season, Idaho broke 13 school records with a team that included just two seniors.
"We believe that Vandal swimming and diving can continue to compete at the highest level and this recognition confirms that belief,” Sowa said. “This will only help potential recruits see that they can take their swimming and diving to an elite level here in Moscow."
