Last weekend, five swimmers from the Idaho Swim and Dive team competed in the U.S. Short Course Nationals. The team finished in the top 20 and raced against some of the best school in the country.

“This was a good experience to get this many Vandals out to a National level meet and finish within the top 20 teams,” Coach Mark Sowa said.

Junior Rachel Millet competed in the 200 IM and took 23rd with a time of 2:01.46. Erica Anderson, Taylor Lee Strachan, and Jamie Sterbis also competed in individual events during the meet.

The Vandals were impressive in the relay events and took 13th in the 4x50 medley relay with a time of 1:44.26 and also placed 12th in the 4x100 medley relay with a time of 3:45.68.

“We have done a quite of bit of traveling over the last three weeks and that caught up to us a bit,” Sowa said. “However, there were moments where we were really good and I thought the relays in particular were impressive.”

The Vandals will be back in action on January 18th when they race against New Mexico State in Las Cruces, N.M.
