The Idaho Swim and Dive team had another great day in the pool during the second day of competition at the Western Athletic Conference Championship meet. The team won three events, broke four school records and are in second place for team scores.
The Vandals started off the day with the 500 free and freshman Abigail Messegee place 16th 5:03.32.
In the next event, Junior Rachel Millet won the 200 IM with a time of 1:59.60, a new school record. Senior Lyndsay Williams placed 10th in the event with a time of 2:04.36 and freshman Victoria Papke placed 13th with a time of 2:04.78.
In the 50 free, junior Erica Anderson won with a time of 23.08. Senior Megan Venlos placed 4th with a time of 23.63 and junior Kirah Monks placed 7th with a time of 23.99.
"Well it was a really good day,” Coach Mark Sowa said. “We took our lumps a bit in the 500, although Abigail had a good one. However they responded great in the IM and especially the 50. Putting 3 girls in the top heat in the 50 was awesome."
The Vandals dominated the diving board today during the 3-meter. Senior Mairin Jameson won the event with a score of 332.15, a new school record. Senior Paige Hunt placed second with a score of 315.95. Senior Kelsi Potterf placed 8th with a score of 261.15.
The Vandals 200 free relay team placed second in the event with a time of 1:32.38, a new school record.
“Again our three senior divers did tremendous and our 200 free relay finished strong,” Sowa said.
