Ashley O’Brien starts her fourth season as an assistant coach at Idaho. O’Brien primarily coaches field players and also manages team travel and various administrative duties. She served as interim head coach following the 2013 season.

O'Brien joined the program in 2011 after a four-year playing career between UConn and the University of San Francisco. O’Brien was a three-sport athlete at both institutions, as she participated in indoor and outdoor track and field in addition to soccer.

She was a 2009 Big East All-Tournament honoree at UConn and earned two letters from 2007-08. She appeared in 21 games in 2008 and dished out two assists and made five appearances in 2007. On the track, she competed in the middle distance events.

At San Francisco, O’Brien appeared in 37 games with 36 starts in 2009 and 2010. She scored four goals and dished three assists in her two seasons. She scored one game-winner and assisted one more for the Dons in 2010.

In 2009, she was an NSCAA Second-Team All-West Region selection and earned all-West Coast Conference honorable mention. O’Brien left USF as the school’s record holder in the women’s 800m with a best time of 2:09.44 at the Brutus Hamilton Invitational in 2011.

O’Brien holds a USSF ‘D’ coaching license. She graduated with honors from UConn in 2009 with her bachelor’s degree in Business, and earned her master’s in Sport Management from USF in 2011. She is originally from Broad Brook, Conn.
