PORTLAND – The Idaho men’s tennis team concluded a perfect weekend by beating Seattle University 7-0 late Saturday night. Idaho beat UC Davis 7-0 earlier in the day and topped Portland University on Friday, and improves to 7-1 on the season with the win.

"The 7-0 win was a great conclusion to a very long weekend of tennis,” Idaho coach Jeff Beaman said. “It was good to see the guys still focused closing out matches around midnight today after being up before 7 a.m. for the morning match against UC Davis, and some of them spending close to five hours on court with all their matches. "

The win against Seattle U was Idaho’s fifth straight. Idaho swept the doubles point with wins at all three doubles positions, and won five of their six singles matches in straight sets.

In Idaho’s win against UC Davis, only Alex Joitou, at the No. 3 singles position, needed three sets to win his singles point, as Lachlan Reed, Jose Bendeck, Alan Shin and Abid Akbar won in straight sets, and Marius Cirstea won at the No. 1 spot after his counterpart, UC Davis' Toki Sherbajov, forfeited due to injury.

Cirstea and Joitoiu teamed up to win 8-6 at No. 1 doubles, Bendeck and Reed won 8-3 at No. 2 doubles, and Akbar and Jake Knox won 8-1 at No. 3 doubles.
