SEATTLE – In his final indoor race as a Vandal, University of Idaho senior Stephane Colle broke the Idaho men’s 3000m school record to lead the team Saturday at the UW Final Qualifier meet.

Colle finished sixth in the men’s 3000m with a career-best time of 8:05.39, which bests the former record of 8:07.02, set earlier this year on the same track by teammate Barry Britt, a junior, at the Husky Classic. Britt took seventh behind Colle on Saturday with a time of 8:14.34.

Senior Erica Digby took eighth in the second section of the women’s mile with a career-best time of 4:46.44, while fellow senior Anna Kalbrener was second in the first section of the event at 4:56.37.

Senior Josh Dalton was seventh in his section of the men’s 800m with a time of 1:50.52, while fellow senior James Clark capped his indoor career with a second-place finish in his section and a time of 1:51.55.

In the men’s pole vault, senior Jeremy Klas tied for first after clearing 17-2.25 (5.24m).

Idaho sent just nine competitors the meet, which gives a final opportunity to earn qualifying marks for next week’s NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships, Mar. 9-10.

Idaho sophomore Hannah Kiser has assured herself a spot in the women’s 3000m by virtue of her school-record and NCAA auto-qualifying 9:07.23 in the event earlier this year. Klas entered the weekend ranked 10th in the NCAA in the men’s pole vault and should safely advance to his third-consecutive national indoor meet.

Fields for the NCAA Indoor Championships will officially be announced on Sunday.
