|Lozano makes finals in Bolivia|
COCHAB AMBA, Bolivia - Idaho women's tennis player Victoria Lozano made a splash playing as an amateur in a professional tournament over the weekend, advancing to the finals in both singles and doubles in the Cochabamba $10,000.
Lozano, a rising junior, won her first four singles matches in straight sets to get to the finals, where she fell to Patricia Ku Flores of Peru.
In doubles, Lozano paired up with Camila Silva of Chile to win their first three matches before losing to Jazmin Britos and Katherine Gabriela Miranda-Chang.
"It's great to see Vicky doing so well over the summer," Idaho coach Dan Pollock said. "It's a big achievement for her to make the finals in such a big event even though she is competing as an amateur. We're looking forward to having her back playing so well and it's going to be exciting to see this kind of performance translate into her college game."
Lozano is a two-time all-Western Athletic Conference selection at Idaho, and earned first-team all-WAC honors in 2012.
