|Enderle on Unitas, O'Brien watch lists|
University of Idaho quarterback Nathan Enderle hasn't gone unnoticed.
Already he's made his way onto two watch lists that honor college football quarterbacks. He's one of 22 on the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm watch list and one of 30 on the Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award watch list.
Enderle wrapped up the 2009 season ranked fifth nationally in pass efficiency (157.28), 15th in passing yards per game (264.2) and 28th in total passing yards (2,906). He completed 61.5 percent of his passes in leading the Vandals to their best season in a decade and to the Roady's Humanitarian Bowl Champion with a 28-second length-of-the-field pass and winning two-point conversion toss.
The Unitas Golden Arm Award is named after the man many refer to as the greatest quarterback ever to play the game of football and is presented annually to the top senior college quarterback in the nation by the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Educational Foundation, Inc.
The O'Brien Award is the oldest award honoring a quarterback and is presented annually to the nation's best college quarterback. It honors candidates who exemplify Davey O'Brien's enduring character while exhibiting teamwork, sportsmanship and leadership in both academics and athletics.
The Vandals open the season Sept. 2 vs. North Dakota in a 6 p.m. game at the Kibbie Dome before traveling to Enderle's home state of Nebraska to take on the Cornhuskers in an 11:30 a.m. (Central; 9:30 a.m. Pacific) game.
