SAN ANTONIO, Texas - University of Idaho freshman Shana Lim shattered the Western Athletic Conference meet and league records in the 100 backstroke with a 53.00 in the championship race.

Lim's mark not only bested the 12-year-old meet record of 53.22 but gave her a convincing decision over defending champion runner-up Fi Connell of NAU. Lim's winning margin was 1.23 seconds in the sprint.

"We showed them tonight," coach Tom Jager said. "There were a lot of Vandals there."

In addition to Lim's victory, freshman Lyndsay Williams shattered the Idaho 400 IM record with her 4:25.88 - seventh fastest overall and second in the B final. The previous Idaho record of 4:31.16 was set in 2009-10 by Cortnee Hanson.

The other Vandal record to fall Friday was the 400 medley relay. Lim teamed with Kelsie Saxe, Savannah Bettis and Si Jia Pang for a 3:48.22 (sixth place at the meet) to better the month-old record of 3:51.45.

With one day of competition remaining, the Vandals are eighth with 146 points.
