|Choi finishes fourth|
MESA, Ariz. – The University of Idaho women’s golf team turned in another solid round to finish fifth at the Western Athletic Conference Championship Tournament.
Junior Rachel Choi had a two-under 70 to pull into fourth in the 54-hole event at Longbow Country Club. She had a 221 for the tournament.
“Rachel had an amazing round,” coach Lisa Johnson said. “She has shown tremendous growth as a player.”
Also for the Vandals, Leilanie Kim was 11th with a 226, Kaitlyn Oster tied for 16th with a 229, Kristin Strankman tied for 23rd with a 232 and Cassie McKinley was 33rd with a 247.
“Overall,” Johnson said, “I was impressed with how the team rebounded from a horrible first round. It showed great toughness. It would have been nice to shoot lower but we’re happy with our effort.”
Denver, with medalist Tonje Daffinrud’s 209 leading the way, won the tournament with an 882. San Jose State was second with an 884. The Vandals had 908 for the fifth.
