Mortellaro ties for second

TUCSON, Ariz. - University of Idaho junior Kayla Mortellaro fired a three-over 75 in the blustery final round of the Arizona Wildcat Invitational to finish in a tie for second.

Mortellaro finished at two-under 214 for the tournament after an opening 36 139. Fellow junior Teo Poplawski also was at 75 during the closing round to finish at 12-over 228 and in a tie for 22nd for the tournament.

Also for the Vandals, Rachel Choi, who had a hole in one during Monday's opening round, finished at 236 and tied for 49th and Julia Hitchins tied for 80th after a 54-hole 257.

Collectively, the Vandals were at 935 to finish 12th. Host Arizona won the tournament with an 875 with California second at 886 and Arizona State third at 895. Arizona's Isabelle Boineau was the tournament's medalist with a four-under 212 after a closing round 73.
