The University of Idaho women's golf team improved by three strokes during the second round of the Anteater Invitational to pull into sixth at the annual tournament - just two strokes out of fifth.

Junior Kayla Mortellaro set the pace for Idaho despite a second-round 77. She's at 148 and in sixth at 148 - five strokes off the leading pace of Lauren Taylor of Portland State. Also for Idaho, junior Teo Poplawski is tied for 28th at 157, with freshmen Julia Hitchins in a tie for 32nd at 158 and Rachel Choi in a tie for 40th at 160. Sophomore Allyssa Nilsson is tied for 52nd at 165.

Long Beach State leads the tournament at 592 with Portland State second at 594. Idaho is at 621 after 36 holes.
