AUBURN, Wash. - University of Idaho juniors Kayla Mortellaro and Teo Poplawski made bold moves up the leaderboard Friday at the NCAA West Regional Golf Tournament at Washington National.
The two Idaho players are among six players tied for 13th but, at three-over 147, are just three strokes out of fifth. Mortellaro shot an even par 72 to reach 147, while Poplawski was at one-under 71. Tennessee's Erica Popson leads the field with a seven-under 137. USC's Lizette Salas is second at 140.
Mortellaro had an up-and-down round with two birdies and two bogeys on each side, while Poplawski had two birdies and one bogey in her one-under 71.
The final round is Saturday.
